Labconco and Lucent Additive Logos

Our approach to additive manufacturing was built on this story. In a 2020 product meeting at Labconco, Brent pointed out that a small part facing a $15,000-plus injection mold could be printed in time for the next day’s meeting, and the room went quiet. That moment grew into a full in-house lab running SLS, SLA, and FDM printers. This Formlabs case study covers the results. A machined bearing separator that once cost around $500 now costs about $21 after a redesign. A blower wheel dropped from roughly $179 to about $53. Brent also explains why asking “should we print this?” beats simply asking “can we?”
